American Philosophical Society Library: (PA) The American Philosophical Society Library, founded in 1743, offers one of America’s richest collections of materials on the development of modern science since 1700, early American history to 1840, and native North American languages and culture.  A number of unique ship models and instruments are on display with the Society's 247-year-old collection.

Beavertail Lighthouse Museum: (RI)  Since 1749, the Beavertail Lighthouse has guided mariners from its site at the tip of Narragansett Bay on Conanicut Island.  The lighthouse is located in a beautiful state park, where the surf crashes on the shore rocks and is just a short drive from Newport.

Block Island Southeast Lighthouse: (RI) Southeast Light is a restored lighthouse built in 1875.  In a tower were its lantern is 240 feet above sea level, sends its light 35 miles out to sea.  The Block Island Historical Society provides archival information about the island and lighthouse.

C. Howard Hiester Canal Center: (PA) Near Wyomissing, PA, Stop No. 8 at Berks County Heritage Center and Wertz's Covered Bridge: This area was developed as an historical interpretive area and includes the C. Howard Hiester Canal Center which is located in the barn; the Gruber Wagon Works (1882), a registered National Historic Landmark; the Bicentennial Eagle Memorial; Melcher's Grist Mill; the Police and Veteran's Memorial. This interpretive area offers visitors an educational opportunity to discover Berks County's heritage.

The Canal Museum in Greenville: (PA) The Canal Museum in Greenville provides the history of the Erie Extension Canal during its heyday in the 1840s, complete with a full-size replica of an original canal boat.

Cigna Museum and Art Collection: (PA) Founded in 1925, Cigna Museum exhibits a collection of eighteenth- and nineteenth-century marine and fire-fighting objects and eighteenth- and nineteenth-century American fine art. Included are paintings, models, prints, equipment, and manuscripts.

Erie Maritime Museum: (PA) The brig Niagara sails today. Yes, she's totally reconstructed but fully represents the vessel that Admiral Oliver Hazard Perry (when he was but 27 years old) won the battle of Lake Erie against the British in the War of 1812.

Franklin Institute: (PA) In Philadelphia, the Franklin Institute contains much information on this city's development, including the maritime waterfront industry.

Independence Seaport Museum: (PA) Located on Philadelphia's historic Penn's Landing, Independence Seaport Museum (ISM) offers a dynamic, interactive maritime experience that is second to none. Also at Penn's Landing is Admiral Dewey's 1898 flagship at the Battle of the Manila Bay, OLYMPIA, and a WWII submarine, the BECUNA, and a wooden boat shop.

National Canal Museum, Hugh Moore Park: (PA ) Welcome to the Unofficial Schuylkill Canal website. Here you'll find information on the navigation system running along the Schuylkill River. Although many sections of the canal remain unfilled (and may be seen along the river), only the Oakes and Manayunk reaches are watered and maintained. This website concentrates on the Oakes Reach, located in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, directly across the river from Phoenixville. This 2.5 mile rural waterway is maintained and improved through the cooperative efforts of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Montgomery County, Upper Providence Township and the Schuylkill Canal Association as well as many local organizations and residents.

Philadelphia Ship Preservation Guild: (PA) The Ship Guild has been in existence since 1972. We own and operate the historic 1902 tug Jupiter in conjunction with Penn’s Landing Corporation. The tall ship Gazela was built in Cacilhas, Portugal as "Gazela" in 1883.

S.S. United States Passenger Liner: (PA) Today the mighty ocean liner UNITED STATES is moored in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This monumental ship will soon be embarking on a new mission. Welcome Aboard and visit often to learn of our progress.

US Brig Niagara: (PA) The brig Niagara sails today. Yes, this completely reconstructed ship from the Battle of Lake Erie (1812) continues to bring the history of Admiral Oliver Hazard Perry to life.

USS Requin Submarine: (PA) The Requin, a WWII submarine, is in the Ohio River adjacent to the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh, PA.

Watson - Curtze Mansion: (PA) The Erie Historical Museum is housed in the Watson-Curtze Mansion, (Formerly: Erie Historical Museum and Planetarium)which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Located in "Millionaires Row" of the West Sixth Street Historic District, the museum provides information/artifacts on maritime history. And it also provides an opportunity to view the architecture and craftsmanship of the stained glass windows, friezes, stone/marble work and woodwork that went into building these mansions.
